Selecting and sizing tanks

First step:

Please refer to the corrosion resistance tables to define the best liner for your product.

For storage tanks below 30 m³ at ambient temperatures, full Polyethylene (PE) tanks are always the cheapest solution,

directly followed by full Polypropylene (PP) tanks.

But in many cases, full polyester tanks are cheaper than PP tanks. Please refer to Comenco.

For storage tanks over 30 m³ , depending of the temperature, the cheapest solution is always based on a polyester tank with an inner liner. This liner can be a standard polyester, a high performance polyester or a thermoplastic.

Second step:

The type of tank is of utmost importance to optimise the price.

In most of the cases, a vertical tank with flat bottom is suitable, and the cheapest.

The tanks can be supplied with:

Full outlet, below the bottom of the tank;

Bottom with slope.

When necessary, tanks can be delivered with:

Domed or conic bottom;

Horizontal with legs;

Horizontal, for underground installation.

Third step:

Finally, check out what are the physical limits for shaping the diameter and the height of the tank.

In many cases, the tanks have to be installed in a basin in order to protect the environment from catastrophes.

Another solution is to provide double tanks. For stand-alone tanks, this is far the best technical solution and the cheapest. Please refer to the links below for the pages on standard and regulations.
